Please follow guidance from our knowledge base article "Moodle Assignment Changes" to familiarise yourself with navigation of the updated Moodle Assignment activity.  

  1. Navigate and click on the assignment on your course page you wish to grade.Selected Assignment highlighted to add ranged rubric
  2. Select Advanced grading in the top banner.

  3. In the Advanced grading menu, select Ranged Rubric from the expanded dropdown at Change

  4. This displays two options to create your ranged rubric, select Define new grading form from scratch.Define new grading form from scratch highlighted
  5. Provide a title and description for your ranged rubric.

  6. Defining your ranged rubric:
  • Create a criterion row by selecting +Add Criterion.

  • Check the Ranged checkbox to make a criterion ranged.

  • Select Click to edit criterion when seeking to edit an existing criterion.

  • Select Add level to add a column in your ranged rubric. Select Click to edit level to edit a created level.

  • Select Click to edit level to edit an existing level.

  • Attribute a maximum score for a level created by changing the score points below the level.

  • Press the Trash icon to delete a level or criterion.

    Note: Deleting a criterion removes all levels associated without the ability to retrieve them.

  • There are Rubric options, where the boxes can be checked as to your preferences for the ranged rubric. You must ensure Allow grader to add text remarks for each criterion is checked, so you can manually enter marks.

  • Once complete, press Save rubric and make it ready to attach rubric to the Assignment. If your rubric requires more work, Save as draft to continue working on it at a later date.
