The facility to request the deletion of a Turnitin submission has been a long-standing user request which has now been implemented in the new (2025) Turnitin Feedback Studio.

The Request deletion function allows an instructor to request the local (MIC) Turnitin administrator to permanently purge a submission from the Turnitin repository. The requester will be asked for a rationale for the deletion as part of the process.

There may be several reasons why the removal of a submission are clearly necessary, such as the inadvertent duplicate submission of the same work to two unrelated modules or the unintended upload of a draft version of work. The decision to delete a submission must be considered carefully before a request is made, and must be justifiable. If there are reasons for concern, there may be value in making a note of the circumstances giving rise to the deletion in the event of later review or investigation.

Student requests for the deletion of submissions to allow for resubmissions prior to an assignment due date may be reduced by enabling the Allow resubmissions until due date setting in Assignment Details.

Important Note
The deletion of a submission from Turnitin causes a submission to be purged from the Turnitin repository. A deletion is final and cannot be undone once completed. The submitted work will no longer be available for similarity reporting.
