Grading a Turnitin Assignment

  1. Open your Moodle course page.
  2. Click the relevant Turnitin assignment link:

    Turnitin Assignment.

    This will open the Turnitin assignment Submission Inbox:

    The submission inbox displaying any student submissions that have been received.

  3. To access Turnitin's grading tools, click the blue pencil icon in the Grade column of a student’s submission:                                                                                                                                                                                              Blue pencil editing icon.

  1. To enter a grade for a student’s submission, click and enter the grade in the box at the top right of the document viewer:                                                                                                                                                                                                               Grade entree box out of 100.
  2. Close the Turnitin document viewer. The grade you entered should now appear in the Grade column for the student’s submission:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Student grade.

Note: Remember that grades and feedback are not visible to students until the assignment post date has passed.


Adding a Feedback Summary to an Assignment

A feedback summary can be used to communicate a general text or audio feedback comment on a student’s assignment. To enter a feedback summary on a student’s assignment:

  1. Open your Moodle course page.
  2. Click the Turnitin assignment link. This will open the Turnitin assignment Submission Inbox.
  3. To access Turnitin's grading tools, click the blue pencil icon in the Grade column:                                                                 Blue pencil editing icon.

  1. Click the Feedback Summary icon:

  2. Click in the text comment field and type a feedback comment. Note that there is a 5,000- character limit for the feedback summary.

  3. When you have finished entering the text comment click anywhere in the document viewer to save the comment.

Note: Remember that grades and feedback are not visible to students until the assignment post date has passed.
