Submission File Format, Sizes
and Considerations
Your Assignment Brief or your
lecturer will advise on the document format to
use for your assignment and any additional
specifications.
In general, Turnitin at MIC will
accept files that:
- Contain a minimum of 20 words;
- Are less than 100MB in size;
- Have fewer than 800 pages;
- Are in:
- Microsoft Word(.doc, .docx)
- Rich Text Format (.rft)
- Plain Text (.txt) or
- Readable PDF (.pdf) files
- Powerpoint (only .pptx and not
.ppt) files may be submitted
but only presentation text will be
processed for similarity and for
lecturers to grade.
Files where Turnitin cannot read
text, such as scanned text images, pdf image
files, password protected or encrypted
files.

requirements for your

File Submission
Considerations
Exercise care when submitting your
assignment to Turnitin and ensure that you are
submitting your final work to the correct
submission.
Inadvertently submitting the same
work to two different assignments will result
in a similarity score for one assignment
against the other suggesting
self-plagiarism.
If you discover that an incorrect
file was uploaded, speak with your lecturer as
soon as possible.
Device
Recommendations
For the most reliable experience, it
is recommended to use Moodle and Turnitin from
a desktop or laptop device using an up to date
version of the Google
Chrome or Mozilla
Firefox browsers.
