A User Override can allow the provision of extra time for specific students on a Moodle Quiz, without changing the quiz settings for the rest of the cohort. 
Common user overrides include:
  • Extra time
  • Different availability dates
  • Additional attempts
  • Different time limit

  1. Ensure Edit mode is toggled on in the top right corner of the course page.

  2. Open the quiz activity on your course page.

  3. Select the More dropdown tab and select Overrides.

  4. Press the User override button to modify time restrictions for students who require additional time.

  5. First type in the name of the student in Override user select box and select the student when it pops up.

  6. There is an option to provide a Require password to the User override. Select the eye icon to make the password appear, to ensure the correct password has been inserted.

  7. You can select a different open and close quiz time for the specific student. Select the Enable checkbox for each to alter these.

  8. If there was a pre-existing time-limit to the quiz you can alter this to provide an accommodation for the student. Select Enable checkbox to alter this.

  9. You can also change the attempts allowed to add more attempts permitted for the student.

  10. Ensure to select the Save or Save and enter another override.'Save' and 'Save and enter another override' buttons highlighted
  11. In the overrides menu, it will appear the students who have been provided additional time.
