Moodle 4.5 now provides
audio/video
and screen recording of 5 minute
duration,
integrated into the TinyMCE text
editor.
This
allows for the creation of tutorial
like
screencasts without using external
tools.
It
also supports more media formats.
Overall,
this update further elevates the
learning
and
teaching experience.
- Within the course page, ensure to toggle Edit mode on in the top right corner of the course page.
- Click the plus button wherever you seek to add your 'Text and Media Area'.
- The Activity chooser opens, click the Recommended tab and select the Text and Media Area represented by a blue box with a T within icon.
- Once the New Text and Media Area menu is open, provide a name for your media in the Title in course index box.
- In the Text Editor box, go to the insert tab to insert your required media options.
- When the Record audio option is selected, you must allow record using microphone permission in the browser which will usually appear as a pop-up in the top left of the page.When it is permitted press the Start recording button that permits audio recording for up to 5 minutes.
When audio is recorded you can decide whether to Record again or Attach recording. - When the Record video option is selected, you must also allow record using camera permission in the browser which appears at the same area. When it is permitted, you will see the camera selected with a preview of what is being recorded. When ready select the Start recording option, you will have the option to pause during recording.When video is recorded you are given the same option of whether to Record again or Attach recording.
- When Record screen is selected you have the options of screencasting individual tabs, Window or Entire screen. Press the Share button when you select what visual you want to record and press Stop sharing when complete.
- Once you are satisfied with your audio, video or screen recording that have been visibly attached in the text box area, select Save and return to course. The work you have saved will appear on your course page as an audio file or recording.
