Moodle has the option to add a Chat activity to your course page.

  • Click on the Edit mode button to turn editing on.

  • In the section of your page that you want to add the chat, go to the bottom of the section and click on +Add an activity or resource. Or select the plus button anywhere between activities and resources.

  • Select Chat from the Activities tab in the add an activity or resource menu.

  • Set your session options in the criteria available.

  • Once complete, click on the Save and return to course or Save and display buttons on the base of the screen.

This could be added to any section of your page as a basic course chat or specific session chat. You can schedule real-time chats sessions, and set how long the conversation will be saved.
