Note: There is a delay in processing your
similarity score, especially for a
first submission. Therefore always
ensure to plan, leaving plenty of time
to generate your similarity score in
reference to assignment due
date.
Also, only one submission
can be processed at a time and
you should wait until your similarity
score has been generated before you
submit again.
There is a maximum of 3
uploads permitted within a 24-hour
period.
- Once you have enrolled successfully to the 25SY - MIC Turnitin Self-check Facility course page scroll down to the Turnitin Self-check Upload Area and press the expand plus button. See MISU Website for further information.
- Click on the purple resource displayed MIC Turnitin Self-check Facility
- When selected, this menu may take a few moments to open as it is part of Turnitin's interface. When it is opened, ensure to read all instructions displayed.
- When you scroll through this page you reach the Your Work box where you can add the file you want a similarity check for. Ensure to adhere to the file requirements listed to the right of the box.
- You can drag and drop your file in the Your work box area or Browse Files to upload this way. The Submit File menu will display when the file has been added to the Upload area.
- Press the Upload and preview button to upload your file.

- The Submit File menu creates a loading
screen which displays We are
creating a preview of your
file.
- There is then a preview created of your file uploaded in the Preview tab. Once you are satisfied this is the file you want to receive a similarity score for press the Submit button.

- Once submitted you return to the Self-check Facility menu where a pop-up of Your file was successfully uploaded should display.
- In the Your work box, you may not see your content display straight away. However, if there is a Resubmit option, it means your submission is being processed. Do not click this resubmit button.
- Allow up to 2 hours on first submission for a similarity score to appear.
