Audience: This information is for non-MIC Users, that is users who have accounts setup using their own personal or work email addresses that do not end with the domain ...mic.ul.ie. If you have a staff or student account at MIC, please use MIC Staff and Student Password Reset.

Note: Access to Moodle is only available to users who have approved registrations with MIC through a course or outreach programme. There is no facility to self-register for MIC Moodle access. If you are registered with MIC and experience difficulty logging in, please contact the MIC ICT Services Helpdesk for assistance.

Recommended browsers: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers are recommended for the best experience of using MIC Moodle.


To reset your Moodle password as a non-MIC User:

  1. Access Moodle using the link - https://moodle.mic.ul.ie/.
  2. Once you have clicked on the link you will be presented with a login page:

    Choose the option for Non-MIC Login.

  1. You will then be presented with the Non-MIC User Log in page.

    Locate and click on the Forgotten your username and password? link below the Log button.

  1. To continue, you will be asked to enter your username - that is your MIC Moodle-registered email address.

    Enter your email address in the Username field and click Search.

  1. You will be presented with a message to advise that "If you supplied a correct username or email address then an email should have been sent to you. It contains easy instructions to confirm and complete this password change."

  1. Open your email for the address you have just used and check for the reset instructions email which will be sent from the Moodle Admin User.
  • If you do not see the email in your inbox, check your junk or spam mail folders.
  • If using Outlook, check your 'Other' mail folder if using this feature.
  • If you do not receive an instructions email, check that you are using the correct email address as your username to access Moodle.
  1. Follow the instructions provided in the email which will include a link you must use within 30 minutes of request to validate your password reset. If you exceed 30 minutes, the link will not work and you must begin the process again.
  2. When you follow the link, you will be asked to provide a new password for your non-MIC User Moodle account. Remember that the password must contain 8 characters at least which include at least:
  • 1 digit
  • 1 lower case letter
  • 1 upper case letter
  • 1 non-alphanumeric character(s) such as as *, -, or #.
Remember to keep your Moodle password safe and secure.

  1. Once you have successfully set a new password, you will be signed into your Moodle account. Remember to use your new password for subsequent log ins.

Having trouble logging in?
For assistance with login issues for MIC Moodle, firstly check with your programme coordinator to ensure you have been registered and that your contact details are correct. Once this is confirmed, you should make contact with the MIC ICT Services Helpdesk.
