Lecturers can put students into breakout rooms to facilitate smaller group collaboration sessions. To do so, click on the Manage users setting wheel on the Users panel.

Within the breakout rooms settings, you have the 3 options. You can:

  1. Manually assign student to rooms

  2. Randomly assign students by clicking theRandomly assign button

  3. Allow students to choose a breakout room by checking the appropriate box

The max number of rooms you can select is 8. There is no limit on the Duration (minutes).

To manually assign students to rooms, drag and drop students to place them into their appropriate room. When you are finished, click Create.

If manually or randomly assigned, students will be presented with a message asking them to join their respective room. Students would need to click Join room to enter the breakout room session.

If the allow students to choose a breakout room option is enabled, students will be given the choice of what breakout room they wish to join. Students would need to choose a room from the dropdown and click Join room to enter the breakout room session.
